Controversial musician and supporter of New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kwame Asare Obeng known in showbiz as A Plus has questioned the rationale behind the GHC800, 000 cash to be used for development of a website by the Ministry of Special Development Initiatives.

In a Facebook live video, the musician asked if an elephant can be downloaded from the website after that staggering amount is used to develop it.

“What are you going to put inside that website that cost GHC80, 000? Can you download an elephant from that website so that when you click on it an elephant will come out and fall on the ground?” he questioned.

According to him, budgeting GHC800, 000 to build a website for one ministry is very outrageous because a website in ‘heaven’ will not even cost that much.

He said, as a supporter of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and a card bearing member of the NPP, he will continue to talk about the rots in the current government.

According to him, the actions of some of the President’s appointees are untoward which will eventually bring disgrace upon the NPP administration.

“Nana your people are meant to disgrace you. They want to finish your government,” he said.

Background

The Minister for Special Development Initiatives, Mavis Hawa Koomson has come under intense criticisms from the Minority in Parliament after it emerged that her outfit has allocated GHC800, 000 for development of a website.

The Minister later explained in an interview on Accra based Starr FM that the figure GHC800, 000 was a typographical error.

“How on earth can we use GHC800, 000 for just a website? Are we mad? To be frank with you when I heard the report I called the budget officer only to realise that it was a typo,” she told Starr FM’s Naa Dedei Tettey.

She continued, “How on earth can we use GHC800, 000 for this Ministry’s website? What kind of website are we building? Please, it is not GHC800, 000, it was a typographical error.”

According to her, the correct figure is GHC80, 000, indicating further that the amount will not only be used in building a website for the Ministry but for the three development authorities and their regional offices.
