998 presidential staffers: Government dishonest – Minority

President Akufo-Addo's government has the highest number of presidential staffers President Akufo-Addo's government has the highest number of presidential staffers

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo was dishonest with the list of presidential staffers he released, Mr Rockson-Nelson Dafeamekpor, opposition Member of Parliament for South Dayi, has said.

According to him, the number of workers at the seat of government is in excess of 1000 and not 998 as presented by the president to parliament in compliance with Section 11 of the Presidential Office Act, 1993 (Act 463), which requires the president to submit annually to parliament, a report on the staffing of the presidency.

However, the list, as released, has created mixed reactions from both sides of the political divide, with critics saying the figure will overburden the national purse.

Speaking on Ghana Yensom on Accra100.5FM on Monday, 23 April, Mr Dafeamekpor said: “This government is dishonest because the list is more than what the president has presented.

“We have information to the effect that the list is in excess of 1000 and not the 998 presented by the president,” he alleged.

He added that the Minority will release the full list of the presidential staffers to expose the presidency’s dishonesty.
