A draughtsman stabs teenager

Sunyani(B/A), Dec. 29, GNA - The Sunyani Magistrate's Court 'B' has remanded Alhassan Saeed, a draughtsman in prison custody for allegedly stabbing a teenager with scissors at Jakoza Gardens, a restaurant and drinking bar in Sunyani on Christmas eve. He pleaded guilty to causing unlawful harm and was ordered to re-appear on Monday January 8, for sentence.

Mr Albert Zoogah, Presiding over the court said the sentence was deferred because the complainant was on admission at the Brong Ahafo Regional Hospital in Sunyani and the seriousness of the harm caused to him could not be assessed.

Prosecuting, Police Inspector Gilbert Adayuga told the court that on Sunday, December 24, this year, both the accused and the complainant attended a night party at the restaurant.

He said the complainant called a lady who was with the accused for some discussions, the accused became offended and rushed on the complainant and stabbed him with a pair of scissors.

The prosecution said the complainant was rushed to the hospital and accused arrested and handed over to the police.

In another development, Isaac Nii Quaye, a driver was remanded in prison custody for killing a 20 year cyclist with a DAF passenger bus in Sunyani.

His plea for carelessness, inconsiderate driving and causing harm was not taken and would reappear on Monday, January 8. Assistant Superintendent of Police Ansu Frimpong told the court that on Thursday, December 28 this year, at about 1900 hours the accused was returning from Wawasua, a village near Sunyani and on reaching a spot near a drinking bar, run over the cyclist yet to be identified, killing him instantly.

ASP Frimpong said the corpse had been deposited at the Brong Ahafo Regional Hospital in Sunyani.
