A thief gets eight-year jail sentence.

Juaso (Ash), June 25, GNA - A farmer at Juaso has been jailed eight years for stealing household items including mattress, and bed sheet from the room of another farmer in a cottage near Juaso. Kwabena Victor pleaded not guilty to stealing the household items and 200,000 cedis cash.
Prosecuting, Police Chief Inspector K. Ofori told the court presided over by Mr Jacob Boon that in November 2003, Mr James Agbo who was staying at a cottage near Juaso in the Asante-Akim South district, detected the theft of his items in his house. He said the complainant made his own enquires, but could not trace the items and, therefore, decided to quit the cottage and move into Juaso town. He locked the rest of his personal effects into one of the rooms.
When he got a new room in the town, he came back to collect the parked items from the cottage, but on reaching there, he found out that the room had been broken into again and all his personal effects stolen. Chief Inspector Ofori said on May 8, 2004, at about 1600 hours, Mr James Agbo went to the house of Kofi Agbo and saw his rubber container, which was among the items stolen from his room, and confronted him (Kofi). He said he bought it from the accused.
The prosecutor said when the complainant went to the farm of the accused, he saw his aluminium cooking utensil which was among the stolen items, adding a report was made to the police and when a search was conducted in the room of the accused, a mattress and bed sheet were also found. Chief Inspector Ofori said the accused contended that he bought his bed sheet from a second-hand clothing dealer, and the mattress from a store. After investigations, the accused was charged with the offence.
