(Philadelphia, PA) On Saturday, November 8, 2014 history was made at the 5th Annual African Caribbean Business Council Gala as two notable Ghanaians were among the honorees; His royal majesty; Nii Amarkai III, King Maker,Ga State and Acting Asere Mantse and Mr. Charles Nimmo Ntiamoah-Mensah (Mr. CNN) Media, Publisher and CEO, 3G Media Inc. - a media outlet for the Ghanaian and Greater African community in America.
Nii Amarkai III was presented with a Leadership Award as Mr. Ntiamoah-Mensah received the Service Award. All ACBC honorees were presented with two citations each respectively from the City of Philadelphia and the State Senate of Pennsylvania. This also marked the first time two citations were presented to Ghanaian honorees; a traditional ruler and a Media Practitioner since Ghana's first President; Osagyefo Dr. Nkrumah's early days in Philadelphia as a student.
The Ghanaian community was represented during the witness ceremony in support of these legendary honorees.

About ACBC Winter Award Dinner
The event recognized the great achievements of members of the fast growing population of African and Caribbean immigrants in Philadelphia. According to recent estimates, the city is home to some 80,000 immigrants from more than 35 countries in Africa & Caribbean.
Prior to the the Awards Dinner, there was a VIP Reception and a Business Round Table Discussion on Trade and Investment.
According to ACBC President Dr. Azuka Anyiam, it is part of ACBC's commitment to the promotion of business opportunities in Africa and the Caribbean and the growth of relationships in Philadelphia and the State of Pennsylvania.
Awards were presented in seven major categories including the ACBC Award for Innovation, Excellence, Service, Leadership, Entrepreneurship, Person of the Year and ACBC Medal of Honor.
The theme of the Awards Gala was "Building Global Partnerships for Local and Global Economic Development."
Several ambassadors from Africa & Caribbean were in attendance. There was a special session on Ebola to help support the Republic of Liberia. The keynote speaker for the Business Roundtable of Pennsylvania was; State Senator Mike Brubaker, Chair of the Senate Finance Committee. The roundtable was held in association with the African and Caribbean Alliance for Development.
The keynote speaker for the Awards Gala was; The Honorable Dr. Stephen Kebwe, Deputy Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Republic of Tanzania.
