AMA warns impostors

Accra, Oct. 12, GNA - The Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA) has warned the general public that it has not requested any hawkers or traders to return to the streets and pavements of the Accra Metropolis. The Assembly said, it has neither authorized any persons to collect monies from traders and allocate places on streets and pavements to the traders who pay-up such monies.

The AMA said it has come to the notice of the Assembly that some self-imposed leaders of the Hawkers/Petty Traders Associations of the Accra Metropolis allegedly extort monies from their colleagues and boldly allocate spaces on the streets and pavements to such innocent victims.

The release stressed that, people caught, collecting money from hawkers or traders under the pretext of sending it to the AMA would be severely dealt with according to the dictates of the law.
