AZC protects name of Ashaiman from bad record

Ashaiman, (GAR) Dec. 05 GNA - The executive members of the Ashaiman Zonal Council (AZC) on Saturday undertook a five hour education to sensitise the electorate of Ashaiman on the need to adhere to the rules and regulations regarding the next Tuesday voting procedure to ensure peace in the area.

The education took the form of moving to the doorsteps of the electorate in the eleven electoral areas in order to receive the message clearly and behave accordingly.

Lieutenant Commander (RTD) Atta Kwabia Adomako, chairman of the AZC explained that this form of education has become necessary in view of the fact that Ashaiman has bad record of negative activities and hooliganism during such events and prayed that such issues would not be repeated.

He advised against any misconduct during and after the elections so that Ashaiman's image would not be tarnished.

In order to redeem its image however, Lt. Cdr. Adomako urged the electorate to leave the polling centres after voting but could return during the counting of votes, which should be conducted in a cultured manner to avoid confusion and conflicts.

The AZC chairman stated that some patriotic non-governmental organisations, churches and opinion leaders have made successive moves to bring sanity to the town and urged the constituents not to let their efforts be in vain.

Three other executive members of the AZC, Mr Alhassan Ibrahim, Mr Emmanuel Nikoi Dsane and Mr Charles Ohene Djan, who carried out the education campaign, delivered the messages in the various dialects.
