DAYBREAK’s intelligence has gathered that as part of the cleansing process going on in the Armed Forces, more than thirty eight officers (38) have been shown the exit door since 7th January 2009.
Whist those going home are from the Akan speaking areas, the opposite is currently underway as the Volta region which is now termed the ‘Brotherhood’ in the Ghana Armed Forces is enjoying promotions within all the three arms.
The region alone has enjoyed thirty seven (37) promotions within the Ghana Airforce with the promotion of Air Vice Marshal CEK Dovlo as the worse ever promotion done in the history of the Ghana Airforce.
Also, the region has thirty (30) promotions within the Ghana Navy whilst in the Army; it has forty-eight (48) promotions but reduced by one with the death of Brigade General EC Quist.
The affected persons home now are: Brigadier-General E. Okyere (General Officer Commanding, Southern Command), Brigadier-General R. Debrah (Director General, Joint Operations), Brigadier-General J.K. Nkrumah (Deputy Commandant, Military Academy and Training Schools), Brigadier-General R.O. Sackey (Commandant, Military Academy and Training Schools), Brigadier-General G.K. Adjei (Defence Attaché, London), Brigadier-General K. Oppong- Kyekyeku (Defence Attaché, Washington D.C.), Brigadier-General H. Nana-Acheampong (Director, Engineer Services),Brigadier General Robert Winful (Chief of Staff) and Brigadier General Jaswant Mante Wadhwani (Commander 37 Military Hospital)
The rest are Colonels DA Boakye, Joshua Kwame Kumah, Yaw Boafo- Mensah, Kwadwo Damoah, Emmanuel Nyamekye Opoku, Ernest Kofi Danso, Esther Dennis, Comfort Baiden and many more.
Others have service numbers like GH/2731, GH/2736, GH/2963, GH/2964, GH/2395 and many more.
Letters stating the intentions of the hierarchy to do away with men and women is not different from what was written to Colonel Kwadwo Damoah, former Director, Manpower/Personnel of the Armed Forces.
This has provoked numbers of senior officers in the Armed Forces outside the ‘Brotherhood’ to wonder if this is not a direct political and ethnic offloading of personnel.
