ACE BROADCAST journalist, Abeiku Santana, has respectfully called for Otumfuo Osei Tutu II’s blessing and support for his ambition to become MP at Mfantseman in the Central Region.
He has sought Otumfuo’s blessing and support for his MP ambition because he considers himself as a son of the Asante soil after having served as a broadcast journalist with Mercury FM in Kumasi during the late 1990s.
Abeiku Santana, who was the MC during the official opening of the Asokwa branch of the National Investment Bank (NIB) in Kumasi which Otumfuo attended, took advantage of the event to make his request to the king.
Abeiku Santana said after several years in radio where he used his position to fight for the youth and the oppressed in society, he believes that he is now riped to go to parliament to formulate better laws to help develop the country.
The ace broadcast journalist for about 10 minutes hijacked the programme as he respectfully sought the blessing and support of the Asante Monarch for his ambition, sparking continuous laughter from the gathering.
Later in an exclusive interview with BEATWAVES, Abeiku Santana said when elected as MP for Mfantseman, he would work to improve the education and health needs in his constituency and as well create jobs for his people, notably the energetic youth.
He indicated that he would use his links both international and local, and also rely on his rich business expertise to make sure that as an MP, his constituency is developed and the lives of the people are bettered.
Abeiku Santana decried the lack of development at Mfantseman Constituency and Central Region in general, stressing that he would focus on how to ensure that his area is developed effectively within a short time.
