The NPP Parliamentary Candidate for Ablekuma Central, Jefferson Kwamena Sackey has donated bags of maize to over 200 kenkey sellers in the constituency.
This forms part of the Jefferson Care Omen Empowerment Fund, an Initiative aimed at supporting small and medium sized enterprises in the constituency.
Over 300 bags of maize and cash support worth 100,000 cedis was distributed to the kenkey sellers drawn from all parts of the constituency.
The Jefferson Sackey Empowerment project has already supported thousands of women in the constituency with interest free loans among others.
Addressing the gathering of kenkey sellers, Jefferson Sackey said "my mum sold kenkey to take care of me during the most difficult times and so l identify the plight of kenkey sellers, that was what motivated me to do this"
He added that, "the prices of maize has shot up significantly due to the shortage of rains, and as someone who considers these women as my mothers, I felt it was right and proper to support them in this little way".
Jefferson Sackey appealed to the women to form an association that will champion the cause of kenkey sellers in the constituency.
He prayed for support and votes in the December election.
"As you may be aware, in December we will vote for a new MP and l want you all to vote for me come that day, vote for me and Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia to make life better for all".
