Some national executives of the governing New Patriotic Party have been dispatched to the Brong Ahafo region following the attack on Brong Ahafo Regional Youth Organiser of the party, Kwame Baffoe, popularly known as Abronye DC.
Abronye DC is on admission at the Duayaw Nkwanta Catholic Hospital after he suffered a fracture and shoulder dislocation from the beatings he received from hoodlums on Saturday, January 13, when he was leaving the residence of the District Chief Executive (DCE) of Atebubu-Amantin having met with some party members on his national executive campaign bid.
His car was also destroyed in the process by the thugs believed to be supporters of the NPP. They are reported to have carried out the attack in protests over constant calls by Abronye DC for government to sack the Brong Ahafo Regional Minister Kwaku Asoma-Cheremeh.
“I am heading towards Duayaw Nkwanta Catholic Hospital to find out exactly, his conditions,” Deputy General Secretary of the NPP, Nana Obiri Boahen told Class FM on Sunday, January 14.
“I received the news yesterday in the night and I called the acting Regional Chairman and he confirmed it. He even facilitated his conveyance to the Duayaw Nkwanta Catholic Hospital. Interestingly, it was some NPP and NDC (National Democratic Congress) activists who went to his rescue,” he narrated.
“It was even a client who is a leader of the NDC who resides in Atebubu who called me immediately the incident happened to inform me,” he added.
Mr Boahen indicated that the party will take its next line of action after assessing the situation.
