Yendi, April 10, GNA- Members of the Abudu Royal Family, one of the gates to the Dagbon Skin, were conspicuously absent during the burial ceremony of the Ya-Na Yakubu Andani II, overlord of Dagbon. No reason was assigned for their absence.
The security personnel had secured the township for the official handing-over by the government of the mortal remains of the late King to the Andani Royal Family to whom he belonged.
Meanwhile the Police have intensified security around the mausoleum where Dagbon Kings are buried, while traditional rituals were underway at the palace of Zohi-Na (chief of Yendi) to enskin the elder son of the late Ya-Na as his regent after which he would be accompanied to the mausoleum to see his father's body before his burial on Monday night.
Gen. Edwin K. Sam, (Rtd), a Member of the Council of State on behalf of the government, presented 10 million cedis, one carton of schnapps, and 10 crates of minerals to the bereaved family. The Asantehene's delegation presented, on his behalf, five million cedis, six bags of rice, 10 crates of minerals and twenty-four bottles of schnapps and cola-nuts to the family.
The Andani family and other sympathizers have, meanwhile, expressed a sigh of relief and joy that the mortal remains of the late King were finally being laid to rest.
Some members of the family were also happy about the befitting burial accorded the late King, who was given a three-gun salute.
