Aburi youth angry over mischief against Chief

...…As They Set The Record Straight

The youth of Aburi in the Akwapim South District in the Eastern Region are seething with anger over attempts to pitch the chief of the town against President John Mahama.

Reports in a section of the media after the grand durbar to mark the annual Odwira festival of the people suggested that Otobuor Gyan Kwasi II used uncharitable language against President Mahama.

But the youth of Aburi are claiming that the media reports were mere fabrications to make Otobuor II look bad in the eyes of the President, whom he has a solid relationship with.

Speaking on behalf of the angry Aburi youth, Mr. Ernest Bediako Anim, their spokesman, told the Enquirer yesterday that the Otobuor, who spoke for 24 minutes, 34 seconds, spoke on a wide range of issues, but at no point did he ask the President to stop making promises around the country.

“Indeed, Otobuor spoke about the need for President Mahama to fulfill promises to rehabilitate the Aburi-Nsawam road which he made three years ago, the Kitase- Kwabenya road which he made two years ago; he never made reference to the whole country,” he said.

Mr. Bediako Anim said that it was indeed strange that sections of the media ignored what the chief said about discipline and how to move the nation forward.

“The youth of Aburi and the entire Aburiman are in a state of shock as to why somebody in his own imagination would concoct a story to pitch Otobuor against President Mahama,” he said.
