Accident death toll rises to eight

Apam (C/R), June 8, GNA - One more person has died on admission at the Apam Catholic Hospital, following injuries he received when a City Express Ford Bus on which he and some other passengers were travelling on ran into a stationary articulator truck at Gomoa Ankamu on Monday. This brings to eight, the number of dead. ASP Asare Baffour, Apam District Police Commander, who disclosed this to the GNA at Apam on Tuesday said four bodies have been identified.

They were those of Mr Albert Armah and son Albert Armah Junior and Christina Tawiah, a ll-year-old from Elubo in the Jomoro District of the Western Region and Mr Robert Mensah, from Sekondi, driver of the Ford Bus.

ASP Baffour said, the driver of the articulator, Abrahim Awelh who took to his heals after the accident later surrounded himself to the police and had been placed in police custody.

He has therefore appealed to the public, especially those whose relatives travelled on Monday from Takoradi to Accra to contact the Apam Police for the bodies.

Police investigation continues.
