A 29-year-old accountant with the Audit Service in Accra, Albert Boani, is in the iron grips of the law for allegedly practising sodomy on teenage boys. Boani, an Audit Examiner and a student at the Accra City Campus of the University of Ghana, allegedly sodomised several teenagers in the Awoshi area of Accra where he lived. It was one of his victims, a 16-year-old (name withheld), who exposed Boani's unnatural sexual taste, under intense questioning by an elder sister.
According to prosecuting Inspector E.T. Boison, the 16-year-old lived with his father and elder sister at Awoshie, where the accused is a neighbour in an adjacent house.
During the month of October last year, there was widespread speculation in the area that the accused had been indulging in anal sex with some of the teenage boys living in Awoshie including the victim.
Following the speculations, the victim's elder sister questioned his brother whether what she has been hearing was true, that he was having sex with the accused?
The victim answered positively, adding that the accused had sodomised him on three occasions.
A report was then made to the police and Boani was arrested. A medical examination carried out on the victim at the Kaneshie Polyclinic confirmed that his anus had been severely assaulted.
According to Inspector Boison, the accused admitted the offence after investigation and was charged before the Accra Regional Tribunal.
In court, however, Boani pleaded not guilty and the Judge, Mr. P.K. Aggrey, granted him bail in the sum of ?10 million.
