Executives and members of the biggest opposition party, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Central Region, have expressed misgivings about outright lies being peddled by the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) government officials who are trying to claim credit for projects initiated and completed by the previous administration.
According to the NDC, crediting immediate past president, John Dramani Mahama’s administration for the numerous projects must be done by his successor who is seeking to take glory for what he knows within himself he never did.
They contend that President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo who is only 10 months in office could not have embarked on and completed some of the projects especially in terms of infrastructure attributed to him.
To this end, they expressed disappointed in the Deputy Ministers of Communications, Mr. Vincent Sowah Odotei and Nenyi George Andah for over the recent commissioning of the enhanced Community Information Center (e-CiC) both in Brong Ahafo region and at Elmina in the Central region without acknowledging the previous government when it is public knowledge that the projects were initiated, built and fully completed by ex-president Mahama.
The two Deputy Communications Ministers after commissioning and handing over the facilities to the beneficiary communities claimed the construction of the e-CICs were driven by the vision of H.E. Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo to promote the use of ICT for the Country’s development which to them party executives is an outright lie.
The Central Regional Communications Officer of the NDc, Mr. Kwesi Dawood in an exclusive interview with mynewsgh.com charged the government officials to give the credit where credit is due and stop throwing dust in the eyes of Ghanaians.
He emphatically stated that it has therefore become necessary to set the records straight and also to admonish the officials of current government of Nana Addo to be very honest in their public dealings and also learn to give credit where it is due.
Mr. Dawood expressed shock that even the former Member of Parliament (MP) for Gomoa Central, Madam Rachel Appoh who played significant roles to ensure that her constituency benefited from two of these projects at Gomoa Afransi and Gomoa Aboso was not invited to the commissioning or even acknowledged during the handing over but the current NPP MP who used issues surrounding the construction of the Gomoa Aboso e-CICs to win votes in the area was invited.
