The residents of Adanse Apaja in the Adanse Apaja West District of the Ashanti Region are appealing to the assembly and the District Chief Executive, as a matter of urgency, to come to their aid by providing adequate social amenities in the districts.

In an interview, the residents said they lacked basic amenities such as road network, clean water, and schools, as well as pressing issues such as security in the area.

According to the spokesperson, who also doubles as the assembly member for the area, Mr Kwabena Manu, they live in a deplorable situation which requires immediate attention from all stakeholders since the area has been neglected over the years.

“With over 800 residents, the town uses one ‘death trap’ public toilet which serves twelve (12) people at a time and both men and women ease themselves on one toilet facility, which is the deepest regret,” he exclaimed.

The assembly member stressed that “if the assembly fails to construct a mechanised water system to serve the teeming people in the area, they will face serious drought.

Mr Manu said the population has increased and so there is an urgent need for extension of electricity to the electoral area, adding that most residents need electricity meters to connect their households to the national grid.
