Adansi-Asokwa Constituency of NPP return all Executives unopposed

Adansi-Asokwa (Ash), Sept 26, GNA - The Adansi-Asokwa Constituency of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Adansi North District of Ashanti returned all the nine Executive members unopposed in a Constituency election held at Adansi-Asokwa at the weekend.

They were, Mr Francis Gyebi, Chairman, Mr Nixon B. Nkansah, First Vice-Chairman, Mr Stephen Abankwa, Second Vice-Chairman and Mr Alex Aboagye, Secretary.

The rest were, Mr Mark Ampofo, Assistant Secretary, Mr Sulemana Moro, Organizer, Madam Yaa Yeboah, Women's Organizer, Mr Akwasi Boakye, Youth Organizer and Mr Benjamin Kyei, Treasurer.

Mr Kobina Tahir Hammond, Member of Parliament (MP) for the Constituency and Deputy Minister of Energy, reminded the Executives of the voting pattern in the Constituency since 1992.

"NDC were in control of the Constituency during the 1992 and 1996 elections before the NPP took over in the 2000 and 2004 elections therefore, you have to work hard for us to win in 2008," He added. The Deputy Minister of Energy, appealed to members of the party to refrain from the notion that much had not been done for the members who campaigned for the party to win the 2004 elections.

"The party, which is ruling the country, is not seeking the welfare of its members alone but to the social, economic and political welfare as well as the stability of the people in the country, " He stressed. Mr Hammond urged them to take pride in the achievements of the Government so far and propagate them to win the sympathy of more people into the party.

He reminded the executives and members of the party in the Constituency against internal disagreement, emphasizing, "Our fight is with the opposition and not amongst ourselves".

"We have to come together and avoid division and infighting tendencies that will not help the growth and unity of the party in the Constituency," the MP stressed.

Mr Kwabena Ameyaw, District Chief Executive for Adansi North reminded the executives against any act that would affect the peace of the party in the Constituency.
