Addison goofed on biometric questions - Amaliba

Lawyer Abraham Amaliba, a member of the NDC’s legal team, has ridiculed counsel for the respondent, Lawyer Philip Addison for cross-examining witness for the 2nd respondent, Dr. Kwadwo Afari-Gyan, as if he works at shop specialised in repairing spoilt biometric machines.

Lawyer Amaliba dished out this mockery on Okay FM when he was asked by the host of ‘Ade Akye Abia’ morning show host, Kwame Nkrumah Tikese, to give his take on Lawyer Addison's cross-examination of Dr. Afari-Gyan.

According to Lawyer Amaliba, he felt ashamed as a practicing lawyer to hear his counterpart in court ask the ECs’ witness questions that only specialist who repair biometric machine can.

He suggested that it was far from right for the petitioners counsel in court to bring up questions such as “does biometric machine have a button or not. Does he (Dr Afari-Gyan) know how the components of biometric machine work?”

Speaking from a legal point of view, Lawyer Amaliba noted that he is astonished that Lawyer Addison is rather strengthening the evidence of Dr. Afari-Gyan instead of punching holes into it.

He summed up by adding that all the questions Lawyer Addison asked Dr. Afari-Gyan on Ghanaians abroad who registered twice were all “irrelevant questions”.
