Addo Kufuor Snubs JAK

DR. KWAME Addo Kufuor, Minister of Defence and the sibling brother of President J.A. Kufuor has snubbed and kicked against the orders of the president when he openly declared his decision to run for NPP presidential race for 2008.

Dr. Addo Kufuor opened declaration is the first of its kind by any of the serving ministers of state who are nurturing NPP’s presidential ambition to run for 2008 on the party’s ticket.

Apart from Dr. Addo Kufuor, other serving ministers who seem to be nurturing presidential ambition to run on the ticket of the NPP are Prof. Mike Oquaye, Minister of communications, Mr. Alan Kyeremanteng, Minister of Trade and Industry and Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo, Minister for Foreign Affairs and Regional Co-operation.

Others are Mr. Hackman Owusu Agyemang, Minister for Water Resources, Works and Housing, Mr. Felix Owusu Agyepong, Minister for Parliamentary Affairs and the Majority Leader in Parliament.

President Kufuor earlier in the year issued stringent warning and promised to deal with any of his ministers who would openly declare his ambition, however last week, at Koforidua, his younger brother Dr. Kwame Addo Kufuor met party members and formally announced his plans to run for the 2008, NPP presidential race.

Party insiders told THE SUN that they were patiently awaiting, how President Kufuor would react to his brother’s open declaration.
