Addo Kufuor is Acting Interior Minister

President Kufuor has asked the Brong Ahafo Regional Minister, Ernest Debrah to take over temporal responsibility for the Northern region, while Defence Minister, Dr. Kwame Addo Kufuor takes responsibility for the Interior Ministry pending the appointment of substantive ministers.

The directive follows a statement from the NDC minority in Parliament, asking government to clarify the position of former Northern Regional Minister, Prince Imoro Andani, who although had resigned, was seen performing official duties. The NDC also claimed that files were sent to his house (official government bungalow) to be worked on.

Mr. Imoro Andani and his Interior counterpart who is also the MP for Yendi, Alhaji Malik Alhassan Yakubu resigned following allegations that they were involved in the events that led to the Yendi clashes and the assassination of the paramount chief of the Dagbon Traditional Area, Ya Na Yakubu Andani II. Although the two ministers have denied complicity in the attacks, they said they resigned to enable the security agencies and government to have a free hand to conduct thorough investigations into the matter.
