Accra, July 10, GNA - Two armed robbers who have been attacking and seizing cars within Adenta have been arrested at their hideout in Nuaso near Kpone by the Adenta District Police Command. The names of the armed robbers were given as Hanna Martey and Eric Kwadjo. In an interview with GNA, the Adenta District Police Commander, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP Yaw Tettegah said on May 30, a complainant Mr. Godfred Sakyi, a taxi driver who was driving Kia Pride with registration No. GR 3867 T at the Kwame Nkrumah Circle was approached by two persons to be taken to Adenta. When the taxi arrived at Adenta near spot known as Lotto Kiosk, Eric Kwadjo pulled out a locally manufactured pistol and pointed at the driver and asked him to drive them to Adenta Commando Last Stop. On arrival at Commando Last Stop, the armed robber ordered the driver to get out of the car and to surrender all monies, mobile phone and the keys to the taxi to the female accomplice and he obliged. After handing over the items, Eric Kwadjo shot the driver in the back, wounding him severely.
The two armed robbers drove the taxi into a bush in Nuaso and attempted spraying it. With the help of Nuaso Police the female armed robber was arrested and the taxi was impounded and sent to Adenta Police Station while the male armed robber escaped. The Adenta Police managed to trail Eric Kwadjo to his hideout in Accra, where the police laid ambush leading to his arrest. Meanwhile, the two armed robbers have appeared before the Madina Magistrate Court Grade One and have been remanded into police custody to reappear on July 17.
The Adenta Police Commander, DSP Yaw Tettegah called on members of the public who had been victim of armed robbers to contact the Adenta Police Station to help in further investigations of other armed robbery cases.
