Member of Parliament (MP) for Builsa South, Dr. Clement Apaak, has called on the Deputy Majority Leader, Hon. Adjoa Safo to offer an apology for peddling falsehood over the construction of the Dome-Kwabenya Community Senior High School.
In a video circulating on social media, the MP was heard telling her constituents that her hardwork in Parliament impressed the world Bank to contact her to ask if she could get them a litigation free land in her constituency for the construction of one of the World Bank-funded Community Day SHS, and that the school was solely established as a result of her efforts.
She also alleged in the video that the NDC government only built the schools in their strongholds, and her constituency was the only NPP stronghold to get a Community Day SHS, arguing that the construction of the school could not have been as a result of the efforts of the NDC government. But Dr. Clement responding to claims described the comments by the legislator as unfortunate.
He said, Hon. Sarah Adjoa Safo deceived the constituents and she sort to take credit and disregard the fact that the Block project was part general efforts by former president Mahama to provide access to high quality education across the country. The question of lobbying as touted by the legislator he noted does not come into play because the details provided by former Deputy Education Minister, Okudzeto Ablakwa has watered down her claims.
The MP he further indicated can also not lobby as an individual with the World Bank since the institution only deals with government. Dr. Clement Apaak in his suggestion to the Deputy Majority Leader admonished her to offer an unqualified apology for peddling falsehood.
‘’She may have goofed and the best thing I can suggest to my leader in Parliament is for her to render and unqualified apology for peddling falsehood.’’
