The Founding President of IMANI Africa, Franklin Cudjoe, has advised the committee leading the Operation Recover All Loot (ORAL) accountability initiative to adopt unorthodox approaches when dealing with corrupt officials.

Cudjoe, a firm and strong believer of ORAL, one of the key initiatives under the National Democratic Congress administration to crackdown on corruption, suggested that the use of unconventional methods by the ORAL committee would lead to significant results.

In a write-up on X on January 8, 2025, the anti-corruption crusader said, “ORAL must be fair but must be ready to adopt unconventional means to deal with thieves, wicked thieves. Too much Loot is out there.”

Cudjoe believes that while the accountability initiative must be fair and conducted through legal means, certain decisive actions and approaches are necessary for its success.

One such approach, Cudjoe suggests, should be the unannounced and swift apprehension of individuals involved in corruption-related activities specifically ordered by the president.

Referencing a similar approach taken by Saudi Crown Prince, Mohammed bin Salman, in 2019, where $106 billion in embezzled funds were recovered from government appointees and businessmen, Cudjoe questioned whether such bold and effective methods could be replicated in Ghana's fight against corruption.

“A swift unannounced, shock and awe approach worked in Saudi Arabia. Can it work in Ghana? What would be the fallout?” he quizzed.
