Accra,(Greater Accra) 6 Nov. A total of 11.2 million cedis was realised at a harvest organised in Accra on Saturday to raise funds for the completion of a 30 million-cedi community centre complex at Adukrom in Akwapim north district. The function was jointly organised by the youth wing of Adukrom Union and the Tema branch of 'Onua Do Kuw', both benevolent societies of Adukrom citizens, whose members are funding the project through self-help. Nana Darko Larbi the first, a sub-chief of Adukrom and the guest of honour, commended the two societies for their self-help spirit towards planned projects at home. Nana Larbi, who is also the chairman of the London branch of the Adukrom Union, said Adukrom citizens resident abroad have been motivated by the rekindled self-help spirit of those at home and promised that his branch would continue to support such projects. Mr Samuel Aboah, chairman of the Accra branch, called on those funding the project to continue to honour their financial and moral obligations to enable it to be completed on schedule. Mr Samuel Larbi, chairman of the Tema branch, urged Adukrom citizens in the regions, especially the youth to send in their contributions as well as visit home regularly to participate in communal labour.
