Ho, April 11, GNA - The Asogli Youth Congress on Saturday set up 12-member Advisory Council headed by Professor Komla Amoaku, Chief Executive of the National Theatre to spearhead the development agenda of the Asogli State. Other members are, Mr Justice Sulley Gbadegbe in charge of Justice; Mr Victor Danku, in charge of Finance; Dr Mark Amexo, responsible for Health; Mr Kofi Pi-Bansah in charge of Education and Togbe Asamoah Keteku II in charge of Culture and Chieftaincy Affairs.
Mr Mensah Nunyuie, is responsible for Business, Development and Employment; and Mr Michael Avor, is in charge of Programmes and Public Relations;
The rest are, Mr Michael Wemegah Projects; Mr George Ohene-Agbehali, Youth Mobilisation; Commodore (rtd) Kofi Klutse, Security and Mama Atrato II, Children and Women Affairs.
The Council would identify and address problems militating against the development of the area.
It would also be responsible for planning, setting development priorities, mobilising resources and ensure systematic and rapid execution of development projects towards achieving accelerated progress and development of the area.
Togbe Afede XIV, Agbogbomefia of Ho Asogli State announced that the Asogli State would launch a Volta Development Fund and cut the sod for work to commence on the Asogli Palace.
He said a dividend of 600 million cedis had accrued from donations during the burial of his predecessor and his installation (Togbe Afede), which was kept in a special fund.
Togbe Afede said the Congress was a platform for tackling poverty, hunger, disease and deprivation among the people.
He said annual Congress would open a new avenue mobilising the people for development.
Togbe Afede said, " There are a lot of limitless possibilities for improving our lot, but to unlock these possibilities, we need a change of attitudes, a new approach to work and to communal issues".
Professor Francis O. Kwami, former Vice-Chancellor of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology urged parents to invest in the education of their children saying, "Knowledge rules the world". He called for the institution of an education Endowment Fund to take care of brilliant but needy children.
Prof Kwami appealed to the people to re-direct their wealth towards the development of the traditional area.
Mr Kofi Attoh, Member of Parliament for Ho Central, called on the people from the Volta Region to contribute to the establishment of the Evangelical Presbyterian University towards the development of education in region.
