Chairman of Joint Consultative Committee (JCC) for the movement of the proposed Oti region in the Volta Region, Krachiwura Nana Amprah Besemuna lll has said advocacy for the Oti Region has no political colors, ethnic orientation, religious affiliation, self-interest and gender bias.
According to him, people opposed to the creation of the Oti Region have tried to create division among the people of the Volta Region due to their diverse differences situation he described as unacceptable.
"The people who opposed the creation of the Oti Region have tried to divide us using our diverse differences, but seeing the people gathered here today and the immense contributions and dedications of the citizens of this proposed Oti Region, I know that they have failed. Our diversity is our strength not our weakness" He said.
Nana Amprah Besemuna lll said this at a rally in Kete – Krachi to education the people on why they have to Vote YES and beneficial factors concerning the proposed Oti region.
Krachiwura assured the gathering that “by the end of this month, the commission of enquiry set by the President Nana Akufo - Addo chaired by Justice Steven Alan Brobbey will submit their final report to the President for consideration as demanded by Ghana's constitution and he believes that based on all the work done and various efforts made, the commission will recommend the creation of the Oti Region based on the submissions by chiefs and people of the proposed Oti enclave.
He pleaded with the gathering to tell good stories of the benefit of the new Region to all their friends and relatives both home and abroad so that when the date is been set for referendum, they should Vote 100% Yes”.
JCC was formed in April 2017 by the chiefs and people of the eight traditional districts and areas of the proposed Oti area to push their demand for the creation of Oti Region.
The traditional districts are Jasikan, Kadjebi, Biakoye, Krachi East, Krachi West, Krachi Nchumuru, Nkwanta North and Nkwanta South.
The traditional areas include Akpafu, Santrokofi, Likpe and Lolobi.
The Joint Consultative Committee for the movement of the proposed Oti region on Friday, 22nd June, 2018 held their second ground shaking rally at Kete - Krachi in the Volta Region.
The first rally took place at Jasikan district a month ago where thousands of people from Likpe, Akpafo, Lolobi, Kedjebi and the entire people of Buem traditional area met in Jasikan.
On his part, the District Chief Executive for Krachi West Honourable Douglas Osei - Nti said kete - Krachi said he is prepared to host the regional capital because Nkwanta North and South, Krachi East and Nchumuru police service divisional Commands are all under Krachi West.
