The President of the African Development Bank Group (AfDB), Dr. Akinwumi Adesina, has shared a unique alignment of timelines spanning a decade-long leadership connection with Ghana’s President John Dramani Mahama.
Dr. Adesina, in a post shared via X (formerly Twitter) on January 12, 2025, reflecting on the journey, recounted that back in 2015 when he was elected as AfDB president, John Dramani Mahama was then serving as Ghana’s president.
Now, as Dr. Adesina nears the end of his second five-year term at the AfDB, President Mahama has been sworn-in once again as Ghana’s president on January 7, 2025.
The AfDB boss described his relationship with President Mahama as one of “brothers and friends” and noted the significance of their intertwined leadership paths and mutual commitment to Africa's economic development.
