The Member of Parliament for the Effutu constituency, Alex Afenyo Markin has chided the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Education, Winneba(UEW) Rev. Father Afful Broni for what he said is the betrayal of the “Effutu course.”

According to the lawyer cum politician, Rev. Prof. Afful Broni since assuming office has done absolutely nothing to advance the development of Effutu the community that hosts the school, a course he professed to believe in prior to his appointment.

“I have a sense of betrayal on the part of those in office now at the University of Education, Winneba. I feel that they’ve betrayed the Effutu course that they claimed they believed in I must be honest. I’m talking about Afful Broni, Osei Barima… that leadership."

"The impression they created that they’ve identified the problems and they will live up to the expectation they’ve betrayed that course. I also feel that from the fact that coming out today I realize that they used certain gaps as a decoy to get certain position and I’ve not hidden that."

“Secondly, if you tell me that you’re a Pro VC, your boss the Vice-Chancellor is engaged in procurement fraud and you bring a document and that document is used for court and that same time it goes to EOCO for investigations and the person is exonerated and you’re indicted and the next day you are sitting in office and you say that person should suffer straight away it means that you didn’t even believe in the fact that what had happened is wrong."

"It also means that at the time you’re doing what you did it was because you were looking for a position and I’ve not hidden my displeasure on that and I’ve spoken against them,” Afenyo Markin who’s also the Board Chairman of Ghana Water Company told host Kwaku Owusu Adjei on Anopa Kasapa on Kasapa FM, Monday.

He slammed the University for failing in putting in place a local content policy to enhance development in Effutu.

Hon. Afenyo Markin emphasized the need for the people of Effutu to take advantage of the University College by ensuring that the school helps with a local content policy aimed at helping the private sector in Effutu.

He added that it is sad that some authorities of the university rather create opportunities for their family members and friends outside Effutu when there are job opportunities instead of employing locals to take up such opportunities.
