Majority Leader Alexander Kwamina Afenyo-Markin has urged Ghanaian Muslim voters to vote massively for Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia in the upcoming December 7, presidential election since he is one of their own.

He passionately admonished them to vote for him since it was the first time in Ghana’s history that a major political party had filed a presidential candidate from the Muslim block.

This he noted demonstrates the reward for hardwork, dedication and commitment and an election for Dr. Bawumia will serve as an example to the Muslim youth that there is a reward for hardwork.

The Effutu Member of Parliament made the remarks at a mini gathering by the party at its headquarters on Monday, September 9, 2024, after Dr. Bawumia had submitted his nomination forms at the EC headquarters.

He stated "This is an opportunity that has come. If this opportunity is blown away, you never can tell, it may not come again. Give Dr. Bawumia that opportunity to hope that the Muslim youth that one day if he works hard, will also have an opportunity to lead this country."

Dr. Bawumia who also addressed the gathering said the elections would not be about violence but a contest of ideas and policies based on which Ghanaians will decide on whose ideas and policies were superior.

He said he remains committed to uplifting Ghana adding "I want you all to get together with us and let us have a peaceful election. This election is about ideas. We are not going to enter this election to fight. It's only people without ideas, people who are empty who result to fighting. We have ideas and will fight for our ideas. We will not have violence in this election."
