The Incumbent President of the Ghana Journalists Association Roland Affail Monney has been re-elected after elections were held Friday.
Monney, who faced a stiff opposition from former President of the Institute of Financial and Economic Journalists (IFEJ), Lloyd Evans, polled 310 votes to beat his closest contender who had 147 votes out of a total 510 valid votes cast.
A third candidate Johnny Aryeetey polled 44 votes.
In all, some 656 members in good standing were expected to vote. Voters were mainly staff of state-owned media houses, whereas there were a few members from private media firms.
The election was supposed to be held in March, 2017, but was postponed because of some unresolved disputes.
In other results, Mary Mensah was elected as the Public Affairs Director of the GJA. She polled 287 votes to beat Nii Adjei who 216 votes.
Linda Asante was also elected as the Vice President of the GJA after she polled 209 votes to beat three other candidates. The three include; Tina Yeboah 111, Francis Kokutse 93, and Mathew Kwame 92 votes.
