Afoko directs forensic examination of ‘Bugri Naabu tape’

National Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Paul Afoko has directed that a forensic examination be conducted on a tape attributed to Daniel Bugri Naabu, the Northern Region Chairman of the party.

The voice on the tape – which was first broadcast on Accra-based Radio Gold – alleges that the NPP Chairman and General Secretary Kwabena Agyepong as well as two other members have taken monies from the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) to devise the failure of Leader Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, who will be making a third shot at the presidency in 2016.

But Mr Naabu has since denied making such statements, indicating that the voice on the tape is not his.

“In view of the gravity of the allegations made in the said audio recording and the subsequent denial by Mr. Bugri Naabu, the National Chairman has directed that the audio recording be forwarded for forensic examination,” a statement issued by Mr Agyepong on Friday, January 30 said.

“A thorough investigation into this matter is justifiable, in order to ascertain the identity of the voice on the tape and the veracity of its contents.”

The outcome of the investigation is expected to “expose any mischief meant to undermine the unity of the party.”
