Loyalists of the suspended national chairman of the opposition New Patriotic Party Paul Afoko who besieged the party’s headquarters in protest against his suspension are not members of the elephant family, a deputy communications director of the party has said.
According to Perry Okudzeto, the scores of people who thronged the Kokomlemle national office of the party were bussed and deliberately sent there to taint the reputation of the party.
“We picked up information that people who were not party members were being massed up and bussed to the party headquarters,” Okudzeto told Accra-based Joy FM.
Hordes of supporters from across the country stormed the headquarters of the opposition party to protest the suspension of Mr. Afoko Thursday. His spokesperson has described the action of the party as an illegality which must be reversed.
Afoko is on an indefinite suspension after national executives committee of the party found him guilty of conducts inimical to the fortunes of the party.
