Africa Education Watch petitions govt over teachers' exam leakage

Ghana Education Service (GES) Ghana Education Service (GES)

Africa Education Watch (AEW) has petitioned the Education Ministry to probe the alleged leaked questions for the teachers' promotional examinations.

Reports emerged that some of the questions for the teachers' exams conducted on February 20 and 21 were leaked.

Those writing include teachers who are in Superintendent, Principal Superintendent, Assistant Director I and II as well as the Deputy Director positions.

According to the reports, all the multiple-choice questions and their answers for the deputy director as well as assistant director II positions were leaked.

A press release issued by the civil society group blamed the Ghana Education Service(GES) for denting its image with such an occurrence.

"It is obvious that the Integrity of GES’ teacher promotion system has been compromised by this unfortunate happening, the GES has rather chosen to descend on a defensive path by hurriedly issuing a press release to congratulate its staff and consultants for a ‘yeomans’ job done.

This is obviously an unfortunate attempt to waterdown the magnitude and effect of the leakage, rather than admitting the inefficiencies and taking necessary actions".

The said promotional exams replaces the old system of teachers being interviewed to gain promotion.

AEW has equally expressed its displeasure over GES failure to change the exam questions despite hints of the leakage.
