Media personality cum musician, Blakk Rasta has criticised some prominent figures within the ruling New Patriotic Party for making derogatory remarks about the late President Dr. Kwame Nkrumah.

He specifically called out NPP running mate Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh (NAPO) and leading member, Gabby Asare Otchere-Darko, for belittling Nkrumah’s achievements, labelling their comments as disrespectful and unacceptable.

Blakk Rasta suggested that these remarks were a deliberate attempt by the ruling party to tarnish Nkrumah's legacy after their own failures in government.

He stressed that regardless of the criticisms, Nkrumah will always be remembered as the founder of Ghana due to his significant contributions to the nation.

"No matter what, the NPP is out to demonize Kwame Nkrumah. Remember when NAPO made all those offensive comments? It seems he isn't stopping anytime soon. They know that to win an election in Ghana, you must align with the Nkrumah tradition. But if you oppose Nkrumah, you will certainly lose the elections. So what do they do?

"They try to demonize Nkrumah to make people believe that the Nkrumah you have praised all this while was not real. He was actually a fake. It's sad that these people will continue vilifying the founder of this nation," he said on 3FM.

Blakk Rasta also criticised Gabby for claiming that Nkrumah came to Ghana with the intention of establishing a restaurant.

"Gabby Asare said in an interview that Kwame Nkrumah's main aim of coming to Ghana, according to letters he wrote to his family, was to build a restaurant and later a library. So what is he really trying to say? They don't even want to hear the word 'founder’. But the truth, no matter how much you suppress it, will always resurface like a cork," he added.

His comments come in response to public criticism directed at NAPO for claiming that President Akufo-Addo has performed better than Nkrumah and for claiming that the late president used to arrest chiefs during his tenure.
