Residents of Agblobloshie in the Odododiodio constituency have charged on their Member of Parliament, Edwin Nii Lante Vanderpuye, to as a matter of urgency address the numerous challenges in their area or risk losing his seat in the upcoming elections.

According to the residents, the MP has failed to help resolve the sanitation, lack of health facilities, bad drainage systems and other challenges the community has been facing since he assumed office 8 years ago.

Speaking in an interview with GhanaWeb, a resident said “Our MP is ineffective, he has done nothing for the past 8 years since he assumed office. I’m referring to Nii Lante Vanderpuiye of the Odododiodioo constituency. He hasn’t visited us for once since he came to power. We suffer because of the bad drainage close to us and it’s becoming worse, especially when it rains. Even seeing him is a challenge. I won’t vote for him again.”

Another resident said who happens to the Gonja chief of Old Fadama said “Agblobloshie is one of the major shopping centres in the country, government has done little but the issue of road and sanitation has become a major challenge in the community, especially now that there is peace in this area.”

“We don’t see the politicians again after election till the next four years, we are appealing to be regularly with us here so we can share ideas in the area.”

The assemblyman for the area also urged government to intervene in solving the sanitation and drainage challenges in the area.

He also raised concerns about the past assemblyman’s refusal to leave the office for him to occupy the space after he won his elections.

He called on the Accra Metropolitan Assembly to address the issue as it is limiting his performance as an assembly member.
