Residents of Agogo in the Asante Akyem North District of the Ashanti region have called on President Akufo-Addo to pardon Agogo natives who have been jailed over Fulani menace in the area.

The residents speaking to Abusua FM’s Osei Kwadwo after their meeting with REGSEC revealed that some people of Agogo have been remanded into prison custody for killing Fulani herdsmen.

According to them, President Akufo-Addo should give clemency to the jailed persons.

“We don’t know why some of our people are still in prison for killing Fulani herdsmen. They have done nothing wrong, they protected themselves when the Fulani herdsmen attacked them. The Fulani herdsmen have killed some of our family members and they are still enjoying their freedom. We are appealing to President Nana Addo to address our concerns” they said.

The residents, however, commended the Inspector General of Police(IGP) for transferring Agogo District Police Commander DSP Samuel Azugu.

According to them, DSP Samuel Azugu was in bed with the Fulani herdsmen and always shielded them instead of protecting the locals from the herdsmen.

“We now believe that government is committed to clamp down Fulani herdsmen from Agogo. At first, government was joking as far Fulani issues are concerned” they said.
