Agona Swedru (Central Region), 5 Nov., The Agona District Assembly will hold a Trade and Investment fair from November 17 to 22 at Swedru to expose investors to the potentials and opportunities of the area. Mr Samuel Adu-Yeboah, District Chief Executive for Agona announced this at a meeting of the assembly at Agona Swedru last Friday. He said the five day-fair forms part of preparations towards the Central regional Trade and Investment fair dubbed EXPO '98' to be held at Cape Coast. The DCE called on small scale industrialists and artisans in and around the district to take an active part in the fair to enable them brighten their business chances. Mr Adu-Yeboah expressed concern about the unsightly and indiscriminate siting of temporary and permanent structures in Swedru and other areas in the district without regard to building regulations. He said the district statutory planning committee has been revived and reconstituted to check these malpractices. On chieftaincy disputes, Mr Adu-Yeboah said the assembly and district security committee have taken steps to resolve whatever differences existed among the interested parties. He commended kingmakers of Agona Swedru for the amicable settlement of the 12 year-old chieftaincy dispute saying that it will facilitate the speedy development of the district capital . Nana Odiako Bonsu, presiding member of the assembly called on chiefs and land owners to release more land for development projects.
