Agona East maps out plan for development of the area

Agona Kwanyako (C/R), April 26, GNA - The Agona East District Assemb= ly has mapped out a strategy to speed up the development of the District. Under the strategy, fund raising activities would be held to raise funds to build a market at Mankrong Junction, Mr John Oremus Arko, the District Chief Executive, told the GNA in an interview.

He was briefing the GNA on meetings he held in Accra with some prominent citizens from the area on the development agenda of the Distric= t. Mr Arko said a market is needed to help in the Assembly's revenue generation efforts. It will also help the citizens, who are farmers, to s= ell their produce without difficulty.

Mr Arko said the meeting decided that prominent citizens would pay GH¢200 to serve as the seed money for the fund raising dance fixed for June 05. He said committees comprising the prominent citizens would be set up= on education, health, agriculture and roads to plan for development of their=

fields. Mr Arko said the committees, which would be non-partisan, would forw= ard their decisions to the Assembly on how to facilitate development of their=

areas.

He said opportunities would be offered to people who are not members= of the committees to come out with their views and suggestions. "It is going to be holistic approach involving all citizens," he sai= d and added that no one should sit on the fence.
