Mrs Justina Marigold Assan, Agona West Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), has appealed to the public to foster unity and peace for the advancement of the Municipality.
She said without unity and peace, it would be extremely difficult for the Agona West to get it fair share of the national cake from the central government.

Mrs Assan said President Nana Akufo-Addo’s government has rolled out relevant policies and programmes aimed at improving the living standards of all Ghanaians.

She made the appeal when she addressed the festival of nine lessons and Carols at Swedru in the Agona West of the Central Region.

It was organized by the Agona Swedru Local Council of Christian Churches in collaboration with the Agona West Municipal Assembly and the Centre for National Culture.

Other churches attended were Methodist, AME Zion, Presbyterian, Roman Catholic, Evangelical Presbyterian (EP) and Anglican.

Mrs Cynthia Morrison, Member of Parliament for Agona West, took the first Bible reading whiles Reverend Mrs Grace Ananu of Methodist Church of Ghana read the second bible lesson for the occasion.

Rev Simon Hodzi prayed for the President Nana Akufo-Addo, Ministers of State, Legislature, Judicial, MMDCEs and other government functionaries for God to grant them wisdom, humility, heath, respect and patience in their various roles.

The MCE called on the pubic to bury their political differences adding that without unity development cannot occur in the country.

Mrs Assan said it is sad for some people to say that his or her party is now in opposition and so they would not participate in the national sanitation day clean-up exercise.

She called on the NDC, CPP, PNC and other political parties in opposition to rally behind the government to succeed adding that more pragmatic policies and programmes have been put in place by the government to reverse fragility of the economy.

The MCE advised the youth to desist from all forms of violence in the coming yuletide to ensure peace and stability in the society.

Right Reverend Joseph Ato Brown, a retired Methodist Bishop, told the gathering that the greatest miracle God made to the people on earth was with the coming of Jesus Christ.

He said as the birth of Christ is getting near it is time for the public to prepare to observe the period.
