Agonaman Association of North America has established funds to help develop some towns in the traditional area. Agonaman Association is a non-profit organization comprising of citizens of Agona-Ashanti, Akrofoso, Bedomase, Afamanaso and Bipoah resident in Canada and the United States of America.
In a recent Congress held in Hartford, Connecticut, members raised $10,000 (90 million cedis) towards improvement of facilities at the District Hospital. Members also committed to provide an ambulance to the community and sustain the hospital with medical-surgical supplies and medical equipment. Other projects to be funded by the Association are the establishment of scholarships at the local secondary schools for bright and needy students from the area.The guest speaker for the occasion was Mr. Obeng Busia, the Counselor General at the Ghana Mission to the United Nations who represented Nana Effa-Apenteng, Permanent Representative of Ghana to the United Nations. Other speakers included Hon. Hendric Yeboah, MP for Afigya Sekyere East; John Amoah, President of the Association; and Kwaku Duah, the chairperson for the occasion. Dr. Dominic Bioh, an Internist at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York and Stella Amoah, a Nurse Practitioner both presented on Preventive Healthcare.The Association honored Mr. Dickson Nimako, proprietor of Nimak Country Hotel, Agona-Ashanti for his contributions towards economic development of the area and Solomon Amoah of New York for his contributions to the Association.
Osei B. Acheampong was elected President with George Acquah Sarpong as the Vice President.
