Agyepong views governance as opportunity to travel -Anyidoho

The Communication’s Director at the Presidency, Koku Anyidoho says President Mills’ recent unannounced visits to some key state institutions in the country shows that Mills is a very confident leader who is unperturbed about attempts by his detractors to shift his focus from the real task at hand.

Asked if the recent action of President Mills is meant to answer Former Presidential Spokesperson, Kwabena Agyepong who attributed the President’s lack of travel to his ill health, Mr. Anyidoho said President Mills’ psyche about governance is different from that of Kwabena Agyepong who view governance as an opportunity to travel around.

“You can pardon Kwabena Agyepong because that is the Psyche he developed working for a certain President...Every other day they were in the air flying around and of course that’s what they did for five years, six years working for president Kufuor. So Kwabena Agyepong’s psyche is one of ‘you must have a president who is on a plane every other day’. Unfortunately that is not the psyche of President Mills,” Mr. Anyidoho stated.

The Presidential Spokesperson said President Mills is committed to staying at home to solve the problems confronting the nation.

Mr. Anyidoho said President Mills will only travel when he deems it necessary.

"When the need arises, why not? He will have to travel; he would have to attend statutory conferences and international confabs because he is the President of the Republic. He cannot run away from those ones but the truth of the matter is that a lot of work ought to be done at home...so that’s what the President has been doing. Staying at home and working, and working very very hard,” he said.
