Bishop Charles Agyinasare Bishop Charles Agyinasare

Bishop Charles Agyinasare has prayed for “wisdom”, “insight” and “knowledge” for President Nana Akufo-Addo and his government and also asked God for a “vibrant” opposition.

The founder of Perez Chapel International also committed the nation’s Parliament, Judiciary and media into the hands of God and urged the citizenry to pour out in their numbers to vote in the general elections billed for 7 December 2020.

Leading the congregation of Perez Chapel International in supplications on behalf of the nation at the Perez Dome, Dzorwulu, on Sunday, 8 March 2020 to commemorate the country’s 63rd independence anniversary which fell on Friday, 6 March 2020, Bishop Agyinasare pray thus: “Heavenly Father, in the name of Jesus Christ our resurrected King, we pray for our nation, Ghana. We pray that you’ll make our nation great and strong.

“We pray and we commit the President into your hands; Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and his vice and their families into your hands. We pray that whatever you have planned for our 63rd year, you’ll give them the insight to be able to be able to bring it to pass in the name of Jesus. And we pray for his Cabinet; we pray that you’ll give them wisdom and knowledge, we pray that you protect them.

“We pray for the legislators; we pray that Parliament will be able to pass laws that will benefit us and we pray for a vibrant opposition – an opposition that would not compromise and take money in private and not make sure the government does the right thing.

“We commit our judges into your hands; we pray that our judges will be fair.

“We commit our media and journalists into your hands; we pray that they will report what is newsworthy and we pray that they will not shut their mouths but they would hold public officers accountable. We pray for the citizenry of this country, we pray that you will bless this nation; bless what we do, cause our prosperity to shine forth, cause us to be a blessing to our generation in Jesus’ name we call it done”.

Bishop Agyinasare also called for peace in the December polls.

“This year is also an election year. As we go for the elections, may we not kill one another. Parties just have different opinions; that is what makes them different but the political parties have one mother. True politicians desire that we would have a better lot as Ghanaians and, so, irrespective of the party – some are property-owning democracies, others are social democrats – they all have one mother.

“This year, we don’t want anybody to shed blood for anyone to rule. Anybody who wants to shed blood for power, may peace never prevail in their house.

“To the street boys and the macho men, don’t allow yourselves to be used by politicians to cause mayhem in this country. If the politicians try to get you to use you, recruit their children so that their children will also be trained to do macho work and to do the dirty job for them.

“You don’t see the children of politicians becoming macho men and doing the dirty jobs they employ other people to do”, he noted.

Bishop Agyinasare also urged the Electoral Commission and the security agencies to be fair and firm in carrying out their duties in this election year.

“Security agencies should make sure they are not partisan and they are fair and firm in the discharge of their duties. Security agencies should not allow themselves to be used by politicians to cause violence and when people break the rules, they should be fair and firm so that it would not matter whose ox they gore.

“To the Electoral Commission, we say that they should be a very neutral referee this year in the elections and they must listen attentively to the stakeholders so that they can bring everybody on board.

“For our judges, they must dispense justice fairly and independently so that people will not say that justice has been done but they will see justice as being done.

“The media must report the truth and the media must avoid sensationalism and not heighten tensions. We don’t want a situation where we are not able to sleep. We should be able to sleep; elections should not be such that we can’t sleep. And to all the citizenry, we must get ready and on Election Day, go and vote because if you don’t vote, you don’t determine who rules. God bless our homeland Ghana and keep it strong”, he encouraged.
