Ahwiaa Zongo community gets modern place of convenience.

Ahwiaa (Ash), April 24, GNA - The Ahwiaa Zongo Community, near Mamponteng has with the assistance of the Kwabre District Assembly provided themselves with a 20-seater modern place of convenience.

Prior to the construction of the facility, they were using "Atonko"; a pit lined with beams in a roofed enclosure. Commissioning the project, the District Chief Executive, Mr Ernest Opoku-Fofie commended the people for their self-help spirit and reiterated that the assembly would always go to the assistance of communities that initiate their own development projects.

The Assembly contributed cement and roofing sheets towards the project built at the cost of 15.3 million cedis, while the community paid a special levy and provided communal labour.

He said the National Democratic Congress (NDC) government does not discriminate when it comes to the distribution of social amenities and appealed to the people to return it to power in the December elections.

Mr Opoku-Fofie advised the residents to carry out regular maintenance on the facility. Mr Abdulai Razak, assemblyman for the area, commended the assembly for its assistance and urged the people to honour their tax obligations.
