Akantenhene launches education fund

The Akantenhene, Barima Appiah Darkwa II, on Friday launched an education fund to raise the standard of education at Akanten and its surrounding communities.

The fund would not only help improve teaching and learning but would also assist needy but brilliant children to further their education.

He appealed to Akanten citizens both home and abroad and friends of Akanten to contribute to the fund.

Barima Appiah Darkwa described education as a golden key that opens the door to progress and advancement.

He said the people of Akanten area could not afford to lag behind and appealed to parents to use their resources to educate their children.

“I plead with my people to attach the greatest importance to education, since it will enable your children to be enlightened and acquire skills that will make them to contribute meaningfully to the socio-economic development of the country”.

Barima Darkwa urged the people to live in unity and peace and show love and do away with litigation and division, which could draw back progress.

The Akantenhene extended seasonal greetings not only to his people but to all Ghanaians and expressed the hope that the nation would see further peace and advancement in the coming years.
