Akatsi-South MP confident to win primary

Mr. Bernard Ahiafor, the incumbent Akasti South Member of Parliament (MP) has said he is confident of victory in the pending parliamentary primaries and would retain the seat in the 2016 election.

He was speaking in an interview with the Ghana News Agency at the weekend after a heavily attended durbar to launch his campaign for the primaries at Akatsi, ahead of the NDC November 21st primaries.

Mr Ahiafor said he believed his performance in his yet-to-end first tenure as MP had won the people’s heart.

He said he has lobbied for and initiated a number of projects mainly in education, agriculture and health, such as the Akatsi Hospital infrastructure expansion project and a CHPs Compound at Gefia.

Others are personal dam projects underway in the area and another one which is yet to take off, to enable the people to undertake all year round farming to enhance their wellbeing.

Mr Ahiafor said there were also school projects at Wuxor and Avevi, while 14 communities were slated to be connected to the national power grid anytime soon.

He earlier told the teeming and jubilant crowd to retain him and the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) to continue the good works.

Mr. Ahiafor, a lawyer, supported by some colleague MPs, said a win for him was a vote for unity, peace and development in the constituency.

One Prince Kassim Alubankudi, a businessman is vying with the incumbent for the Akatsi South slot.
