Akrofoso citizens in Accra donate to schools at home

Akrofoso (Ash), March 8, GNA- The Akrofoso Kroye Kuo, a benevolent society that comprises citizens of Akrofoso resident in Accra, on Monday presented educational materials worth five million cedis to schools at Akrofoso near Effiduase in the Sekyere East District. The items include 500 exercise books, assorted toys, first aid box, confectionaries, bags of rice and sugar, cooking oil and school uniforms for deprived pupils.

Mr Kwame Owusu, Chairman of the society, said the gesture was their contribution towards the growth of education in the area. He said the society had provided the community with three boreholes, streetlights and extended electricity to the local primary school.

Mr Owusu spoke of plans to award scholarship to pupils who excel in the Basic Education Certificate Examination during the 2006 academic year.

Mr Kwame Asante-Krobea, Assemblyman for the town, who received the items on behalf of the schools, thanked the Association for the kind gesture.
