Mary, the youngest daughter of the late Ghana Freedom Party (GFP) presidential candidate Akua Donkor, has shared details of her mother’s final moments.

According to Mary, who was by her mother’s side at the Ridge Hospital in Accra, her mother passed away around 10:00 pm on Monday, October 28, 2024.

In an interview with GhanaWeb’s Ishmael Batoma at the Ridge Hospital, an emotional Mary recounted, “I was with her. We went to Nsawam, and later on, they transferred us to the Ridge Hospital. We were there, and around 10:00 pm, I was just beside her.”

Mary, the third and youngest child of Akua Donkor, explained that the family is awaiting further instructions from the family head, who will speak with the doctor for more detailed information.

A niece of the late candidate, Adwoa, also spoke with GhanaWeb, sharing that they are awaiting family members arriving from Kumasi in the Ashanti Region to discuss the next steps. She confirmed that Akua Donkor’s body remains at the hospital.
