Akuapim South Constituency NPP Executives dissolve

Nsawam, March 25, GNA - The Executive of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Akuapem South District of the Eastern Region, was at the weekend dissolved for lack of transparency, honesty and accountability with regards to a fund raising held in November 2007. The body, which was dissolved at a meeting attended by about 400 zonal chairpersons and polling agents of the party from the Constituency, instituted an interim committee headed by Mr. John Adjetey Quarshie to steer affairs.

Speaking to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) at the meeting, Mr Quarshie said eight charges were levelled against the former executives. He said the actions and inactions of the former executives were ample evidence that, they have proven themselves unworthy of managing the affairs of the party and there was no way the NPP could retain or consolidate its position as leading party in the constituency under their leadership.

"It will be extremely difficult for we the foot-soldiers to work effectively to ensure an emphatic victory in the December polls should these people remain in office," he said. The other members of the new interim executives were, Mr Joseph Atuah, first vice, Mr Andrews Quarshie, second vice, Mr Edward Tettey Mensah, secretary, Mr Suleman Abu-Abass, assistant secretary. The rest were Mr Samuel Ofori Akomeah, youth organiser, Mr George Siaw Larbi, treasurer, Mr Aaron Ohene Otow, financial secretary, Mr Simon Ahorsu, organiser and Ms. Dovis Adatsi, women organiser. 25 March 08
