Akufo-Addo Fever Grips Tamale Ahead Of IEA Debate

The presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Addo Danquah Akufo-Addo on Saturday made a triumph entry into Tamale in the Northern region.

Though unannounced, eyewitnesses accounted that it took Akufo-Addo’s convoy about four hours from Datatooyili, a suburb of the metropolis to hit the business capital city.

His visit comes ahead of the Institute of Economic Affairs (IEA) second lap of the Presidential encounter on October 30.

Joined by his Vice Presidential candidate, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia in an open-top vehicle, the NPP presidential candidate was welcomed to town by hundreds of party supporters, sympathizers and onlookers.

Finally, when he arrived at the Modern Citi Hotel, an elated Nana Addo thanked the teeming crowd for the honuor and pleaded with them to let their enthusiasm reflect on the ballot on December 7.

He is expected to visit Tolon, Nantong and the Yendi constituencies.

Prior to the 2008 elections, Nana Addo, Paa Kwesi Ndoum then of the CPP, late President Mills of the NDC and Dr. Edward Nasigre Mahama formerly of the PNC appeared on the same platform at the Ghana Institute of Linguistics, Literacy and Bible Translation (GILLBT) off the Nantong road.

This year’s second lap of the IEA debate is scheduled to take place at the Raddach Memorial Lodge, north industrial area Tamale.
